Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 17, 2026

RideGuard ("RideGuard," "we," "us," or "our") provides a family safety app that helps parents and guardians stay connected with riders of e-bikes, dirt bikes, and similar vehicles. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using RideGuard, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Who This Policy Covers

RideGuard has two types of users:

  • Parents / Guardians — adults who create a family and monitor riders.
  • Riders — family members whose rides are tracked. Riders may be minors.

A parent or guardian must set up the family and is responsible for obtaining any required consent before adding a rider, including a rider who is a minor.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. Name, email address, role (parent or rider), profile photo (optional), and the family you belong to.

Location information. When a ride is active, we collect precise GPS location, speed, heading, and altitude from the rider's device, including in the background while the app is not open. Live location is used to show riders on the map and is associated with the rider's family.

Ride and motion information. We process device motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) on the device to detect events such as hard braking, hard acceleration, possible stunts, and possible crashes. We do not store raw sensor streams. We store structured ride records, detected ride events, routes, and computed safety scores.

Device and technical information. Device model, operating system version, app version, push notification tokens, and diagnostic / crash data.

Communications. If you contact us at support@gorideguard.com, we receive the information you provide.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide live location, ride history, alerts, and safety scores;
  • Detect and notify guardians about speed, geofence, stunt, and crash events;
  • Send push notifications you have enabled;
  • Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app;
  • Produce de-identified and aggregated analytics to improve safety detection;
  • Communicate with you about your account and support requests;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use riders' location data for advertising.

4. Children's Privacy

RideGuard is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. A rider account for a child is created under the supervision of, and with the consent of, the parent or guardian who controls the family.

  • A parent/guardian is responsible for providing consent for any minor rider they add and for the collection of that rider's location and ride data as described in this Policy.
  • A parent/guardian can review a rider's information, stop tracking, remove the rider from the family, or delete the account at any time (see Section 8).
  • We collect from a child only the information needed to provide the family safety features described here.

If you believe a child has been added without proper consent, contact us at support@gorideguard.com and we will address it.

5. How We Share Information

  • Within your family. A rider's location, rides, alerts, and scores are visible to members of that rider's RideGuard family.
  • Service providers. We use trusted providers to operate the app, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging, crash reporting) and Supabase (analytics data store). These providers process data on our behalf under their respective terms.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
  • Business transfers. If RideGuard is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Data Retention

We keep account and ride information for as long as your account is active. When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify the associated personal information, including rides, ride points, alerts, and profile data, as described in Section 8. De-identified, aggregated analytics that cannot reasonably be linked to you may be retained.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and update — you can view and edit profile information in the app.
  • Location — you can disable location permission in your device settings; doing so will disable core RideGuard features.
  • Notifications — you can manage push notifications in Settings or your device settings.
  • Delete your account — in Settings → Delete Account. Deleting an account removes the user's profile, rides, ride points, bikes, alerts, and safety scores, and removes the user from their family. This cannot be undone.
  • Regional rights — depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection). To exercise them, contact support@gorideguard.com.

9. International Users

RideGuard is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the app.
